Harrow on the Hill

SVP in Harrow

Our group is based at Our Lady & St Thomas of Canterbury Church in Harrow on the Hill. We serve the Harrow on the Hill area.

We visit people who are lonely or housebound, offer practical help to those in difficulty, and try to be a friendly, caring presence in our community. If you or someone you know could use some support, we would love to hear from you.

New volunteers are always welcome. If you would like to help, please get in touch.

Tackling Poverty in All Its Forms

We are an anti-poverty charity, part of an international Christian voluntary network dedicated to tackling poverty in all its forms by providing practical assistance to people in need.

We are a network of over 8,000 volunteer members in England and Wales, motivated by faith, who visit vulnerable or isolated people and offer them friendship and practical support. The essence of our work is person-to-person contact β€” spending time with people is our greatest gift.

We joyfully extend our hand in the care and personal service of individuals and families who need support.

Our History

The Society of St Vincent de Paul was founded in Paris in 1833 by Blessed FrΓ©dΓ©ric Ozanam, a young student who believed that faith should be put into action by helping those around us.

Today the SVP is active in over 150 countries, with more than 800,000 members worldwide. In England and Wales, the SVP has been helping people since 1845.

Our volunteers work in small local groups called "Conferences," visiting people who are lonely, elderly, unwell, or facing hardship β€” regardless of faith, background, or circumstance.
